DSL for Bone-Anchored Hearing Devices: Prescriptive Targets and Verification Solutions

By Susan Scollie, PhD, Bill Hodgetts, PhD, & John Pumford, AuD

Description

This course will describe a new method for fitting bone-anchored hearing devices (BAHDs), designed specifically for abutment-worn devices. The use of a DSL-based prescriptive formula integrated into a Speechmap® fitting environment provides targets and enables verification and fine-tuning of BAHDs on the Audioscan Verifit skull simulator.

.Learning Outcomes

  1. Participants will be able to describe the rationale for the DSL-BCD prescriptive targets, used with bone-anchored hearing devices.
  2. Participants will be able to describe the studies used to develop and revise the DSL-BCD prescriptive targets.
  3. Participants will be able to summarize the main steps of a fitting protocol designed for use with the Audioscan Verifit skull simulator.
