Modern Approaches to Bone Conduction Device Verification: Current Methods, Enhancements, and Future Directions

By John Pumford, AuD

Description

This course reviews contemporary verification tools for bone conduction devices using Audioscan systems, including updates to Verifit Skull Simulator measurement and prescriptive target matching using DSL-BCD 2.0, along with new automated fit-to-target capabilities enabled by VerifitLINK. The session also introduces the emerging real-bone measurement (RBM) surface microphone method and its potential to expand objective verification capabilities across all bone conduction device types.

Learning Outcomes

  1. After this course, participants will be able to describe the verification role and capabilities of the Verifit Skull Simulator, including the application of recent updates such as DSL-BCD 2.0.
  2. After this course, participants will be able to discuss how to perform efficient automated fit-to-targets with bone conduction devices using VerifitLINK with the Verifit Skull Simulator.
  3. After this course, participants will be able to summarize the principles and clinical potential of real-bone measurement (RBM) surface microphone verification technology.
